Connectors for electronic equipment - Part 7-5: Detail specification for 8-way, shielded, free and fixed connectors, for data transmission with frequencies up to 250 MHz (IEC 60603-7-5:2010); German version EN 60603-7-5:2010

Overview

The IEC 60603-7 standard series covers 8-way shielded and unshielded fixed and free connectors and specifies the common dimensions, mechanical and electrical characteristics and the environmental conditions, tests and transmission characteristics for the different frequencies. In many cases, they are used in cabling systems specified in ISO/IEC 11801. The parameters for the transmission characteristics include, for instance, insertion loss, near end crosstalk (NEXT), far end crosstalk (FEXT) and return loss. The connectors specified in the different parts of the IEC 60603-7 standard series are intermateable, interoperable and backward compatible, which means that the fixed and the free connectors of a certain part of the standard series shall be intermateable with every connector of the series IEC 60603-7 and meet all the requirements of the IEC 60603-7 standard series with lower frequencies. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee K 651 "Steckverbinder" ("Connector") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
