Overview
This part of IEC 61508 contains information for the application of DIN EN 61508-2 (VDE 0803-2) and DIN EN 61508-3 (VDE 0803-3). - Annex A provides a short overview of the requirements of DIN EN 61508-2 (VDE 0803-2) and DIN EN 61508-3 (VDE 0803-3) and shows the functional steps for their application. - Annex B shows an example for the methods for calculation of the probability of hardware failure and should be read in connection with 7.4.3 and Annexes C and D of DIN EN 61508-2 (VDE 0803-2). - Annex C shows an elaborated example for calculation of the diagnostic coverage and should be read in connection with Annex C of DIN EN 61508-2 (VDE 0803-2). - Annex D shows a method for quantification of the effects of hardware-related failures as a result of common causes of failure probability. - Annex E shows elaborated examples for the application of the tables for safety integrity of the software which are specified in Annex A of DIN EN 61508-3 (VDE 0803-3) for safety integrity levels 2 and 3. The responsible Committee is GK 914 "Funktionale Sicherheit elektrischer, elektronischer und programmierbarer elektronischer Systeme (E, E, PES) zum Schutz von Personen und Umwelt ") ("Functional safety of electrical, electronic and programmable electronic systems (E, E, PES) for protection of humans and the environment") of the DKE.
