Overview
This part of IEC 60958 specifies the interface for the interconnection of digital audio equipment in accordance with IEC 60958-1 for use as entertainment electronics (consumer applications). For entertainment electronic applications in digital surroundings, the interface is first and foremost intended for the broadcast of stereo programmes with a resolution of up to 20 bits for each scan. An increase to 24 bits for each scan is possible. A new edition has been published due to a printing error of Table 2. The responsible Committee is K 742 "Audio-, Video- und Multimediasysteme, -geräte und -komponenten" ("Audio, video and multimedia systems, equipment and components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) of DIN and VDE.
