Overview
This preliminary standard lays down specifications desired by the German side for emergency escape lighting systems, which are intended to be additionally recorded in the revised versions of EN 50172:2004 and published with DIN EN 50172 (VDE 0108-100):2005-01. Thereby this preliminary standard indicates, what valid normative requirements of DIN EN 50172 (VDE 0108-100):2007-08 exist, and how DIN EN 50172 (VDE 0108-100):2005-01 shall be changed according to the wishes of the German public which have been established through E DIN VDE 0108-100 (VDE 0108-100):2007-08. It is intended that the German National Committee at CENELEC shall promote the changes to EN 50172:2004, which this preliminary standard contains. This preliminary standard can be used after an agreement between the building owner and the installer. The use of this preliminary standard is recommended by Subcommittee UK 221.3 "Bauliche Anlagen für Menschenansammlungen" ("Installations for gatherings of people") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Informational Technologies) at DIN and VDE (www.dke.de), which is responsible for this preliminary standard. With respect to the edition DIN V VDE V 0108-100 (VDE V 0108-100):2010-01, a second paragraph which was already contained in the previous draft DIN VDE 0108-100 (VDE 0108-100):2007-08 and which provides requirements for standby mode operation and for the monitoring of controls has been added as a correction to the requirements for the circuits in clause 4.4.2. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 221.3 "Bauliche Anlagen für Menschenansammlungen" ("Installations for gatherings of people") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Informational Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
