Overview
This annex applies for additional devices attached to or integrated in residual current operated circuit-breakers with integral overcurrent protection (RCBOs) according to clause 1. Such additional devices enlarge the defined functions of the RCBO. This standard does not apply for additional devices producing a tripping current via the protective conductor (PE) in order to cause the RCBO to operate. The objective of this annex is to maintain the protective function of the RCBO even though the function of the integrated or external additional device is not described in greater detail. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 541.3 "Fehlerstrom-Schutzeinrichtungen" ("Residual current devices") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
