Overview
This standard deals with the safety of electric drives for roller equipment such as rolling shutters, awnings, blinds for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. Drives for equipment with a spring-controlled driven part, for instance awnings with a folding mechanism are also within the scope of this standard. Roller equipment which have a drive are for example shutters for doors and windows, awnings, blinds, grills and shutters which can close off doors and windows. Through Amendment A2:2010 which has been incorporated into the European Standard EN 60335-2-97:2006, Clause 1 "Scope", Clause 7 "Marking and instructions", Clause 20 "Stability and mechanical hazards", Clause 22 "Construction", and Clause 30 "Resistance to heat and fire" of EN 60335-2-97:2006 are added. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 511.11 "Motorische Geräte" ("Motor-operated appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
