Abstract
The performance requirements for MxN spatial switches and the technological approaches to making them, lead to a distinction between small scale switches (M,N smaller than 16), which are most effectively made with two- state, bistable switching elements, and larger switches which use multistate "analogue" elements, generally with servo systems.
