Surge arresters - Part 4: Metal-oxide surge arresters without gaps for a.c. systems
Abstract
Presents the minimum criteria for the requirements and testing of gapless metal-oxide surge arresters that are applied to a.c. power systems with Us above 1 kV. Edition 4.0 of IEC 60099-4 will revise, update, and/or clarify several test requirements based on knowledge and experience gained by manufacturers, users, and testing laboratories since edition 3.0 was published in 2014. Additionally, requirements for arresters intended for use as non-gapped line arresters (NGLA) will be included, along with requirements for externally gapped line arresters (EGLA) into a new standard (IEC/IEEE 60099-11) now under development, necessitating that IEC 60099-4 be revised accordingly to remove references to NGLA.
