Automation engineering of modular systems in the process industry - General concept and interface
Abstract
Modular plants are increasingly used in process engineering to significantly reduce the planning time of new plants as well as the conversion work on existing plants. The prerequisite for this is modules have suitable interfaces and bring along the information necessary for plug-and-produce. Encapsulating module internals reduces the complexity of integration and allows for new business models for module acquisition, replacement and maintenance. The standard defines the concept for the engineering of modular systems, a conceptual architecture and interfaces of the Module Type Package (MTP) for the rapid automation-technical integration of modules into process engineering systems.
