Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components - Basic test and measurement procedures - Part 2-33: Tests - Assembly and disassembly of fibre optic mechanical splices, fibre management systems and protective housings (IEC 86B/4528/CD:2021); Text in German and English

Abstract

This part of IEC 61300, evaluates the assembly and reassembly of a fibre optic mechanical splice, a fibre management system or a protective housing for a specified number of times. The test procedures simulate the following conditions which may be found in the component service lifetime: - Procedure A: the ability of an optical mechanical splice to be re-installed after disassembly; - Procedure B: the ability to re-enter fibre management systems and protective housings, accessing fibres and optical components and making reconfigurations without disturbing transmission in adjacent fibre circuits; - Procedure C: verification of the sealing performance after frequent opening and closing of the protective housing.
