Overview
This prestandard applies for the planning, installation, operation and maintenance of hazard warning systems - in combination with smart home applications, if applicable - for use in residential buildings, apartments and rooms with similar purposes, unless other directives regulations or provisions apply which refer to other standards (for example, DIN 14675, DIN VDE 0833) concerning the scope of this prestandard. Device and system requirements are described, too. Hazard warning systems are used to provide early warning to prevent or reduce personal injury and damage to property that can be caused by burglary (unauthorized entry), threats, fire, hazardous gases and escaping water as well as technical defects. Hazard warning systems can also be used to prevent harassment/intrusion, to control building technology functions (such as energy-saving devices) and to communicate with people in emergency situations (call for help with communication function) who are located in the area of the hazard warning systems. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 713.1 "Gefahrenmelde- und Überwachungsanlagen" ("Alarm and surveillance systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
