DIN in Europe
EU notification procedure
Implementation of Directive 98/34/EG
In order to provide more transparency in European standardization and identify and avert technical barriers to trade in a timely manner, there is a systematic exchange of information on new national standards projects among CEN members.
This is set out in "Directive 98/34/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down a procedure for the provision of information in the field of technical regulations and standards and of rules on information society services" of 22 June 1998.
Notification is registered centrally by the CEN Management Centre and a "Monthly Notifications Register" (INFOPRO Service (INFOrmation PROcedure) is circulated in English to the CEN Members and the European Commission.
DIN distributes the monthly lists in pdf format. They can be retrieved arranged according to either subject area or country.
A list of subject areas (CEN sector/subsector classification), aligned on those of ISO or CEN TCs can also be downloaded.
DIN honours its duty to inform and publishes all current notifications on new national standardization projects initiated by standards bodies in Europe.
